How to Tell If Your Child Needs Therapy

Anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, divorce, behavioral issues... there are many reasons that people seek counseling services for their children. Typically, the phonecall is made or first email is sent when you start to really notice a negative difference in your child. Maybe there is a prompting event that leads you to search for a St. Louis-based therapist. Perhaps a teacher suggested your child get counseling services, or a principal is requiring your teen to work with someone on their anger management. Or, there are stressors occurring at home such as an upcoming move or death in the family.

While there are many reasons to seek counseling services (far more than I've listed here!) I've found that my clients really, truly benefit when they simply have someone listening to them. Someone who is on their side, supporting them - and you - whatever stress has occurred that day.

I work one-on-one with children and adolescents to build coping skills, impulse control, and rational decision making at home and in school. In session, children spend time practicing relaxation skills and learning how to identify their emotions. We build off of this to target your specific concerns.

If you are starting to think that counseling may be right for your child, give me a call or send me an email. I look forward to hearing from you!
